IMC issues ban on obstruction to road

    IMPHAL, November 11: Imphal Municipal Council has on Monday asked government departments, general public and others to discontinue piling construction materials, debris and other sort of obstruction along the roadsides of both national highways and other public roads in areas within the jurisdiction of the council, informing them to remove the obstruction within two days.

    In a notice issued in the public interest under the Imphal Municipal Act, 1994, IMC further informed that if any person is found defying the notification it will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the relevant law. It also warned that all such materials, projections and obstructions on the roads should be cleared without further notice.

    At the same time, the IMC in a separate notice has informed to the public that no person will be allowed to litter on public road and places, sticking of posters, banners and hoardings and also parking on the way at the time of sweeping and cleaning of road. Penalties will be imposed on any person who disregards the order under the Imphal Municipal Council Cleanliness and Sanitation Bye-Laws, 2011, it said.
