IMPHAL, November 3: At least four individuals including two IRB personnel have reportedly been apprehended by a team of Police Commandos on charge of extorting from a dice game late night today.
The incident took place around 9 pm at Ghari Awang Leikai under Lamphel Police Station.
Reports said that five individuals including the two IRB jawans who were in uniform came to the spot in a white Maruti Alto, bearing registration no MN 04/A-5978 and interrupted the dice game (lagao). Three of the five persons were in civies, said the report.
A brief commotion broke out when the individuals demanded money from the dice game following which a man, reported to be a security personnel (off duty) intervened. But the incident turned ugly when the five individuals reportedly thrashed the man.
Soon after the individual the five men sped away from the scene but they were reportedly intercepted by the team of Imphal West Commandos team and were taken into custody. One of the five reportedly escaped from the scene, said the report.
