IMPHAL, December 21: The fitness centre installed inside the Sajiwa Central Jail by Animal Gym was today upgraded.
Spiritual and religious leaders also attended today’s function and delivered spiritual lectures for the inmates of the jail.
Speaking on the sideline of the function, Senior SP Jail, IK Muivah said around 55 inmates of the jail are presently involved in making of handicraft products, which are bought by the visitors of the jail.
He said the finished products are low priced.
Keeping the inmates busy help them to relax and encourage positive thoughts, the Jail SSP said.
And in order to keep them occupied, the jail authorities have been supplying all necessary items for the inmates, he continued.
He continued that the authorities provide gym facilities, yoga sessions, raw materials for handloom and handicraft, music lessons, spiritual counseling, etc.
The authorities have also opened a Special Study Centre, library and indoor game facilities, the SSP continued.
Further elaborating on the facilities provided, he said the inmates are also provided with acupuncture therapy and homeopathy therapy.
Social welfare minister Ak Mirabai had also handed 15 tailoring and embroidery machines for the woman inmates of Manipur Central Jail earlier, he said.
Hundreds of inmates of the jail participated in today’s function.
