IMPHAL, February 20: On the first day of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur conducted High School Leaving Certificate examination today, several students were caught using unfair means and subsequently expelled from further appearing the examination.
Altogether 54 students were rusticated from various centres today, said a statement issued by the controller, BSEM Ng Ningthemton Singh.
According to the statement the several students were found impersonating at various centres.
The statement identified the students as from Moirang- A centre student bearing roll no 15591; from Nambol-B centre bearing Roll no 1809; from Lilong- B bearing Roll nos 21810, 22097; from Samurou centre students bearing Roll nos 26416, 26594, 26787; from Lilong-B centre students bearing Roll no 21858; Irong centre students bearing Roll nos 23022, 23052, 23054, 23069, 23092, 23105, 23138, 23388, 23392, 23393, 23394, 23432, 23514.
From Imphal centre several students were found impersonating. The students are identified as bearing roll nos 461, 1209, 1226, 1227, 1257, 823, 852, 855, 858, 859, 862, 868, 876, 877, 879, 880, 890, 894, 898, 920, 956, 618, 619, 654, 694, 700, 701, 777.
Five private candidates bearing roll nos 426, 481, 1531, 1560, 1564 from the Imphal Centre were also rusticated, informed the statement.
It is also said that an invigilator of the Mayang Imphal Private centre-A identified as Md Rehan has also been expelled.
Meanwhile, according to the principal of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, L Biren Singh, 24 students were caught using unfair means from the centre.
All students were expelled, he said.
“The exam centre had been divided into: A block and B block; the students were caught from both the blocks. BOSEM will take further actions. On their admit cards, there were no mention of the school’s name but it was written that they were private candidates without any affiliation to a school,” he said.
The Imphal Police station picked up the students and took them in their custody.
