IMPHAL, February 28: A meeting of party workers and sympathisers of Communist Party of India was held on Friday at the auditorium of Hotel Imphal.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of India, Sudhakar Reddy addressed the gathering in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“The country is crawling because both the BJP and Congress are hated by the people. Congress existed long before Independence. Many of the schools and hospitals are in the private sector and poor people cannot afford to study and avail medical treatment,” Comrade Reddy said.
Alleging that some Indians who were rich some years ago have got richer, he pointed out that thirty-eight crore people are below poverty line and this poor people’s money are used by rich people like the Ambani brothers. He accused both the BJP and Congress of being corrupted and anti-people.
“Discrimination against people from the North-East is a big challenge the country is facing and if a new third party comes along than it will bring some changes in the country. One third of the Indian population is illiterate. Both the Congress and BJP ruled for so long but the North-East is still neglected,” he said.
Reminding people of promises made before elections by both the BJP and Congress and asking why until now no proper development in the country and state has taken place, he appealed that it is high time the state join hands with small parties to bring development in the state.
“Manipuri people are hard workers and the people will support the new alliance for ushering development in the state,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr Nara said that a secular and democratic government will only bring changes in the state.
“People need to support the party to bring development in the state,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by former president of state CPI M Ibohal, Secretary of Manipur State Council, N Mangi, President CPI Manihar Goswami, JD (U) president M Tombi, and Lingjalen Hoakip Vice-president JD (U), and many others.
