IMPHAL, February 9: The United Development Association, Khangabok today organised a one day discussion on how provision of quality education can stop/check use of unfair means during exam at the Khangabok high School today.

Speaking at the discussion, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur chairman P Dhanakumar said there is a trend of commercialising education in the state, which has only encouraged the use of unfair means amongst the students.

The students had not learnt using unfair means by themselves, they were forced into using the unfair means by their families and the society, he said before adding the school authorities had also helped them.

He further said that the parents, intellectuals and teachers need to play crucial roles in checking/ stopping the use of unfair means.

Education aims at providing knowledge and introducing unfair means to pass exams to the young minds of the students will only result in later failures, he observed.

The age when the presence of industries and factories were considered as measurement of development has gone by, now, people all over the world are more concern with developing ‘human resources’, he said.

Anyone whose foundation is weak will always be left behind in the race of development, he observed. He further continued that with the vast development in the field of Information Technology, newer ways of using unfair means have also come up.

He also appealed to the OCs of the exam centres to stop invigilators from using mobile phones during the exam timing.

In case any candidate feels that he cannot seat in their respective exam centres and want lone sitting arrangement, the candidate will be provided with single sitting arrangement at the Board office, however no candidate will be allowed single sitting arrangement at the exam centres, he asserted.

While supporting the organising of such discussion, the Board chairman also said that it would be very helpful if such discussions are organised in other parts of the state.

DM College of Teacher Education Training, senior lecturer Kh Dineshkumar spoke as the resource person.

Today’s discussion was also attended by Board joint secretary Ph Nandakumar Sharma, YK College, Wangjing principal L Ibungohal, Khangabok Private Centre OC M Mangiyaima among others.
