PREPAK will observe Indian Colonialism Resist Day

IMPHAL, April 24: The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, has said in a statement that the outfit will be observing the April 26 as the “Indian Colonialism Resist Day” from this year onwards.

The statement signed by the assistant secretary publicity and propaganda, PREPAK said that on April 26, 1980, around 9.30am, the 7 Red Army of the outfit had attacked the CRPF at Patsoi Langing Khunou killing havildar SM Raje, constable RA Hajarika and constable Nur Muhammad and injured constable Bil Bahudur.

And in retaliation, the CRPF personnel from their camp at Langjing Chingkhong committed several atrocities against the public killing four persons including a pregnant woman, the statement claimed.

In order to remember the day, the outfit will be observing the day, said the statement.

The outfit further said that under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, the security forces have been committing several atrocities, including the killing of four persons on April 26, 1980; on March 14, 1984, the CRPF fired at a volleyball ground at Heirangoithong killing 13 persons; on July 11, 1987, the Assam Rifles had killed 15 persons at Oinam Village in Senapati district; on July 28, 1994, the 31 AR killed four persons at Makui (Tamenglong); on September 25, 1994, the 13th Sikh Light Infantry had killed four more persons, etc.

It further continued that on January 7, 1995, the CRPF killed nine persons including a Medical student at the then Regional Medical College, Lamphel from Arunachal Pradesh infront of the college, however, leaving a non-local vendor alive; on February 19, 1995, the 127th CRPF killed three and injured nine others at Bashikhong Lamlong; on May 9, 1995, the 20th AR killed three persons at Ukhrul; on August 12, 1997, the 7th AR killed five persons at Tabokpikhong; on October 15, 1997 the Indian Army killed nine persons at Nungleima and on September 23, 2000, the security forces killed 10 persons at Tonsen Lamkhai.

The PREPAK statement also continued that on July 21, 1999, the CRPF had killed five persons at CCpur and on November 2, 2000 at Malom, the 4th Assam Rifles killed 10 persons waiting for a bus after leaving aside a non-local tea vendor.
