IMPHAL, October 12: The Joint Committee on Inner Line permit System continued its survey of migrants`™ entry into the State electoral roll today.
Supported by volunteers of local clubs and meira paibis of Sekmai area today conducted the survey.
Non-locals with documents in hand were seen lined up at a temporary check post set up by the committee at the Sekmai Bazar bus.
The local meira paibis also conducted a survey of shops owned by non-locals in the area.
In between the survey, JCILPS co convenor BK Moirangcha expressed that the survey had been in operation since the yesterday.
During the survey, we have come across many non-locals holding documents issued by pradhans, members of local bodies which cannot be authenticated, he said.
He further appealed to all to stop issuing such documents to non-locals which cannot be authenticated.
House owners should minutely check the credentials of non-locals before renting out their rooms, he continued.
Commenting on the talk with the State government, he said that the committee has already met for the first round with the all political parties committee and any further talk will be held only when the government has drafted its report.
He continued that the committee should submit its report latest by October 30.
In between the JCILPS will continue with its survey work, he said.
