CM condemns explosion announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for death victims

IMPHAL, December 15: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has announced Rs 5 lakhs as ex-gratia to the families of the dead victims of the MG Avenue blast and the government will provide all possible help to the injured victims.

The Chief Minister along with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam visited the injured at RIMS this afternoon after the Home-coming ceremony of militant cadres in the morning. The two leaders while condemning the explosion in the strongest terms instructed the RIMS doctors to do everything to bring the injured out of danger.

Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister had said whether the explosion was due to security lapses will be known only after a police investigation.

He said such acts of violence are hallmarks of cowards. `What can ever be achieve by killing civilians` he asked.

The act is a heinous and cowardly crime, he condemned the explosion adding that all the people of the State should unitedly condemn and stand against such acts.

Such act will never do any good, he reiterated.

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also the Home Minister said the explosion which was triggered while the Home-coming ceremony was underway must be the handiwork of the anti-peace process groups eager to sabotage peace.

While condemning the incident, the Home minister also denied that it was a result of security lapses.
