Kabui culture champion remembered on death anniversary

IMPHAL, December 24: The Kabui Cultural Research Institute has said that the 53rd death anniversary of Dr. Lanlilung Kabui also known as Kokadan Tomba who was also a former member of the court was held on December 23 at 10 am at Kokadan village, Churachandpur.

According to a release of the institute, a ceremony was performed according to the Kabui culture at the grave of Lanlilung and a floral tribute was also paid to his photograph. Kokadan Tomba worked for the development of both the hill and valley people.

He also took major role in the allocation of land for the establishment of Kabui Naga Association Building, located currently at Paona Bazar. He was also a comrade of Hijam Irabot. He was also the founder President of Dangmei Kaikhong from 1937-1950., it said.

The programme was attended by Senior Manager, Civil NSPC, Kh. Ibomcha as chief guest, Manager of Human Resource and RK. Shitaljit Singh, Deputy Manager of HR, Isaac, Chief of Kokandan village and President of Kabui Cultural Resource Institute, D. Namsachung Kabui as guests of honour.

Prior to the programme, chief guest, Kh. Ibomcha, inaugurated the community hall of Kokandan village constructed by Loktak Power Station NSPC Limited, it said.
