Indo-Myanmar joint team to survey road alignment for cross border bus service

IMPHAL, January 7: Top government officials have confirmed today that a joint team of Indian and Myanmar officials will be conducting a road alignment survey for the cross border bus service between the two countries from January 11 to 15.

According to highly placed sources, the State government has been informed by the border maintenance division of the Ministry of External Affairs, Myanmar that it will be sending a delegation to Imphal on January 11 for the proposed joint survey.

It further mentioned that the delegation from Myanmar would be led by Director General of Rail Transportation, Myanmar, U San Aung who would be accompanied by a team of superintending engineers from Sagaing Region Public Works, Ministry of Construction.

An official from the Ministry of External Affairs who will be accompanied by two superintending engineers from the Union Ministry of Road and Transport will lead the Indian team for the proposed road survey.

The State government which has been asked to nominate its representative and send its confirmation to the Union government has been requested to warmly receive the Myanmar delegates and members of the Indian delegation during their stay in Manipur.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has presented its compliments to the Embassy of India and has informed to the Embassy on December 2, 2014 regarding the joint survey by the Indo-Myanmar team to survey the road alignment for the Passenger Bus Service between Imphal and Mandalay in the first week of January 2015, said the highly placed source.
