Three textiles centre at the cost of Rs. 20 crores each will be opened in Manipur: Gangwar

IMPHAL, March 24: The Ministry of textiles will open three textiles centre in the State at the estimated cost of Rs. 20 crores each said Santosh Kumar Gangwar Union Minister of State for Textile government of India.

Each of the centres will have 100 machines installed , he added.

While attending a reception ceremony at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office Nityaipat Chuthek this afternoon, he said this initiative is as per the standing instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for every Cabinet Minister to visit the Northeast States, and help development reach the region.

He said that the State Manipur is facing a big problem of unemployment and doesn`™t have any big industry. The Textile Ministry is therefore extending full support to the people of Manipur to explore this field. During his visit the Minister will be shown the works and skills of the people of Manipur.

The Textiles Ministry is focussing maximum attention on women communities and textiles projects will be in keeping with this vision, he said.

He said that the Chief Minister of Manipur has allotted 25 acre lands for opening three textiles centres for handloom, handicraft and other related fields. Agencies entrusted to do the construct the infrastructures for the projects are ready to start the work in State too, he added.

The proposed units can provide 12,000 jobs to the Manipur people. They will also engage another 1200 experts in various field of textile he further said.

There will be 100 machines install in each centre and there will be provision for expansion and extension of more centres in different fields of handloom, handicraft and allied sectors of textile, with machinery equipments procured through the state department.

The Central government has prepared a policy for development of NE States in several fields and has earmarked a fund of Rs. 400 crores has for the textile sector.

The ministry is scouting for diligent workers and sincere registered Self Help groups to assist in this regard, he said.

He said handloom and handicraft products from the Northeast will have a ready market abroad, and the ministry is ready to assist in the marketing too.

`The Textile Ministry bear the responsibility for marketing and will also provide raw material at the low cost to farmer or artisans`, the Minister announced.

Meanwhile, Th Chaoba president of BJP Manipur Pradesh has submitted a memorandum to the Minister of State for Textile thanking him for the promise to extend positive support for Manipur in development of its handloom and handicraft industry.
