IMPHAL, April 6: The 35th foundation day of Bharatiya Janata Party was today celebrated in all districts of the State by its party members with the main function held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek.
Addressing the main function as the chief guest, S Sheitabhama, vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh recalled the contributions of its founder president S Modhumangol who was an active member of RSS.
She further recalled that plight she and others confronted as wives of opposition leaders during the Emergency years in the nation where many BJP leaders were booked by the police.
She further said that in Manipur the emergency resulted in the arrest of her husband and other leaders under NSA.
But those dark days have concluded after the emergency ended, and since then the BJP has been struggling for a better society under the targeted objective of integrity, humanism and value-based politics.
She said now the BJP has rebounded with added vigour after the Modi came to power in the Centre, and the ideologies of Dr Syama Prashad Mookhrajee, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Atul Bihari Vajapayee, are once again on the forefront.
Now our State has to fulfil the dreams of our founder leaders to have a BJP government in Manipur under leadership of Naredra Modi, she said.
The party has to win in the upcoming elections, including the general election of 2017, and we must hard work to make this a reality and rescue the people from the Congress party`™s 13 years devastation, she said.
Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi, national vice-president BJP Mahila Morcha said that among the BJP leaders who made big contribution towards gender equality is Rajmata Bijaya Sindhiya. We should include her name amongst the other leaders of the party in paying tributes during such observations, she said.
As women workers of BJP we should have ensure the benefits of all the schemes and projects undertaken up by the Central government reach the needy people of Manipur directly both in the hills and the valley. Let us start work towards this objective from today, said Sarda Devi.
Another leader Asnikumar said that during recent a meeting, the Centre leaders have taken note of the suffering of the people in 13 years of Congress government in Manipur. The BJP Manipur Pradesh needs to make a promise to defeat the Congress government in the 2017 general election, and the upcoming ADC elections will be the first steps towards this, he added.
Earlier in his keynote address, Prof. S Tiken, member core committee BJP Manipur Pradesh said that the party is duty bound to promote the party ideology first. Only by sticking to its ideology, the BJP has been able to sweep the LS poll with majority of 282 seats in Lok Sabha in the last election, he added.
He said that the BJP has promised to bring change in the country to the people of India and this promise must not be forfeited.
In the course of the observation, former leaders of the BJP Manipur Pradesh were honour by the party.
