IMPHAL, May 30: As part of its movement launched under the theme `Eikhoi na Pangthoklasi`™ on May 24 to demand implementation of Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) in the state, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) organized street corner meetings and poster campaigns in different places today.

The places where the street corner meetings and poster campaigns held are Lamlong Keithel, Khabeisoi, Chingarel, Sawombung Lamkhai, Sawombung Khunjao, Lamlai, Napet Palli and Yanganpokpi.

According to a press note of the JCILPS, the committee along with support from public has been launching different forms of agitation demanding implementation of ILPS to monitor the rampant influx of outsiders into the State which has posed a serious threat to the existence of the indigenous people.

Though the House had passed a bill on March 16 regarding implementation of the system, nothing substantial has been taken up afterwards to do the needful, it said.

The committee convened a general body meeting wherein it was resolved to launch non-cooperation movement against the works of non-locals in the State, it said.

Lamenting the apparent failure of the government to bring a political solution that will pave way for implementation of the system, the release made a fervent appeal to the people to extend full support to the committee and jointly continue the movement until the demands served to the government are fulfilled.

The demands include implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State without any further delay; withdrawal of the bill passed by the House as it favours outsiders; restriction of entry of outsiders into the sate without permit; protection of the indigenous people; exclusion of non-locals from the lists of voters and few others.
