IMPHAL, Jul 3: Taking strong exception to the failure to the government to provide rehabilitation centre and monthly stipend for surrendered underground cadres, a KYKL surrenderee namely Akoijam Bashanta Meitei called a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.

Addressing media persons, he said that nine cadres of different underground outfits surrendered to SP Imphal East during early 2013 to join mainstream as per the government`™s assurance of providing rehabilitation centre and monthly stipend.

But nothing sort of such facilities have been provided to the underground cadres for the last two years, he claimed, lamenting that they have been neglected by the government.

He further said they are living in their respective houses facing hard time to sustain livelihood.

Reiterating that a memorandum had been submitted to Chief Minister on May 5 regarding the matter, he appealed to the concerned authority to address the grievances being faced by the surrendered cadres at the earliest.
