IMPHAL, August 26: Family members of a 12-year old boy who was diagnosed with the Japanese Encephalitis have taken him back from the JNIMS Paediatrics Ward informing hospital authorities that they will try traditional healing, informed an official of the hospital.
The astounding declaration was made by the official when IFP tried to visit the young boy today.
It may be mentioned that the IFP had reported on its August 24 edition that blood samples of a 12-year-old girl has tested positive of Japanese Encephalitis.
However, the official confirmed that it is a boy who has been tested positive and not a girl as reported earlier.
He said the boy from Tamenglong district but presently staying at a Boarding cum school at Irom Meijrao had been admitted at the JNIMS and kept under observation since about a week ago with complains of symptoms of Japanese Encephalitis.
Tests results arrived yesterday confirming Japanese Encephalitis, however, when hospital authorities informed his family members today that his condition was somewhat serious, they decided to take him back and treat him with traditional healing.
Japanese Encephalitis is transmitted to humans through mosquitos that has bitten infected pigs and other animals carrying the virus.
