IMPHAL, September 4: The Thangmeiband Kendra Pair Price Shops agents Association alleging that less quota of PDS items were allotted to the constituency has demanded an open debate with either the Chief Minister of the Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution minister Moirangthem Okendro on the issue.

Speaking to media persons, joint secretary of the association Loitongbam Sundary reacted strongly against allegations from some quarters that the FPS agents of the constituency have siphoned off the PDS quota allotted by the government.

She claimed they have been rationing the PDS items in the most proper way as the quota allotted by the government was too little.

It is unfortunate that those who have pointed their fingers against the agents have failed to raise a single question against the government nor demanded a proper investigation of the matter, she asserted.

It is also unfortunate that due to instigation from some individuals, a sit in protest was staged today against the FPS agents in Thangmeiband today, she continued.

The government is yet to release the rice, sugar and SK Oil quota for the months of August and September which is turning the people against the agents, she observed.

At the same time, the department has kept pending Atta, SK oil and sugar quotas for the month of June and July, she added.

Attacking the Thangmeiband Block Congress for remaining silent on the issue, she said the committee might have siphoned off the quota meant for the constituency.
