JAC Sadar Hills bandh: 2 winger damaged, 1 auto torched

KANGPOKPI, September 11: The 24 hour total bandh along the National Highway 2 within Sadar Hills imposed by JAC Sadar Hills affected traffic movement and normal life in the area today.

Suspected bandh volunteers early this morning at around 1:30 damaged the wind shields of two passenger wingers for defying the bandh at Sapormeina and torched another passenger Auto bearing Regd. No. MN06S-9745 at 2 am.

All shops and other business establishments in the entire area from Taphou Kuki village to Gamgiphai remmained completely closed while government offices were also shut down for the day.

No other vehicular movement except those exempted from the purview of bandh were witnessed along the highway.

State and Inter-state passenger buses, wingers and commodities carriers were badly affected rendering the highway completely deserted.

Bandh volunteers gathered at Taphou Kuki village and Gamgiphai to check the traffic flow.

Speaking to media person at Gamgiphai Lamtinthang Haokip, Co-Convener JAC Sadar Hills said that movement of loaded trucks is expected along the highway late night this evening. So we instructed our volunteers to be alert and well prepared at the two strategic locations.

He continued that and no vehicular movement will be allowed till the bandh culminate at midnight.

The JAC Sadar Hills co-convener however turn aside to disclose what further course of action will be initiated after its 24 hr total bandh which will end this midnight.

We will inform the public our next agitation which will be much more intense later Lamtinthang Haokip said.

Except the destructive incident at Sapormeina, no other untoward incident have been reported till the filing of this report.
