Police seize RDX cakes following disclosure of arrested KYKL cadres

IMPHAL, September 11: Police arrested two KYKL cadres this morning and recovered seven cakes of RDX (C-4) explosives following their disclosure.

According to a police source, on receiving information that a KYKL cadre has RDX (C-4) explosives in his possession, a team of Imphal West Cdo led by OC Cdo I/W Inspector P Sanjoy under the supervision of Th Vikramjit Singh, addl SP(OPS) of lmphal west District rushed to the house of cadre at Tera Lukram Leirak around 9:50 am and detained him for verification.

It is learnt that the cadre identified himself as Khumbongmayum Dhaneshor Singh, 55, son of (L) Kh, Krishna Singh of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak and further disclosed that two years back, some RDX (C-4) explosive materials were handed over to him by another cadre of the outfit, identified as Takhelchangbam Madhumangol Sharma alias Eiga of Tera Loukrakpam.

Dhaneshor also disclosed that he had transferred the said explosive materials to another cadre identified as Laishram Tondon of Sayang Konthoujarn Leikai, according to the source.

The police team took Dhaneshor to clarify his claim and rushed to the house of Laisram Tondon and detained him for verification, informed the source.

It is also learnt that Tondon Singh alias Somorendro son of (L) L Yaima Singh of Sayang Konthoujam Leikai had disclosed to the team that Dhaneshor had handed over the said explosive materials to him and he had kept it hidden underneath the earth in his court yard.

However, it was found that a new house was under construction at the spot by Tondon`™s elder brother, informed the source.

Digging out the spot indicated by Tondon, the police found a plastic bag containing seven cakes of RDX (C-4) explosives and the said explosive materials were seized around 12:20 pm, informed the source.

The source further said that on being confirmed about their involvement, the two were further questioned during which they admitted to be activist of the KYKL.

Both Tondon and Dhaneshor were also arrested following their disclosures, it said.

Acting on another disclosure of Dhaneshor, the police team rushed to the house of Takhelchangbam Madhumangol Sharma alias Eiga, 60 at Tara Lukrakpam Leikaii around 1:10 pm and searched his house but he was not found.

However, Eiga surrendered at the Commando Complex Minuthong around 3pm admitting that he is a KYKL cadre and had handed over the explosives to Dhaneshor, informed the police source.

The arrested cadres and seized items have been submitted to the Lamphel Police, informed the source.
