Sadar Hills CSOs endorse UNC bandh

KANGPOKPI, September 3: Civil Society Organizations of Sadar Hills including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, KSO Sadar Hills and TSA Sadar Hills has endorsed UNC`™s 48 hr highways bandh within Sadar Hills area and organize a Sit-in-Protest tomorrow at Kangpokpi.

The United Naga Council, an apex body of the Nagas called 48 hr highways bandh starting from midnight of September 3 in protest against the passing of the three bills `“ Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015, the Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms Act (7th Amendment) Bill,2015 and the Manipur Shops & Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill, 2015 in the State Assembly.

Speaking to media person this evening at Kangpokpi, Lamcha Chongloi, spokesperson of Sadar Hills CSOs said that the Sadar Hills CSOs have civilly decided to endorse the 48 hr highways bandh by the United Naga Council from midnight of September 3 in a joint meeting held today at Kangpokpi.

He continued that any vehicular movement along the highway will be strictly restricted during the bandh.

However, educational institutions, media and emergency services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh said Lamcha Chongloi.

He also warned of dire consequence to any bandh defaulters for which the CSOs will not be held responsible.

Spokesperson of Sadar Hills CSOs also lamented that the tribal people of Sadar Hills too will drastically oppose the three bills allegedly termed as `Anti-Tribal Bills` tooth and nail as desire by the people and endows all conceivable means to brazen out the communal and anti-tribal Government.

Various anti-tribal approach of the majority community in Manipur and the communal anti-tribal Government activities of the State Government to directly or indirectly undermine the Rights and Privilege of the tribals through various forms and mechanism has now become the unification of the tribal people in the State asserted Lamcha Chongloi.

`The tribals`™ people have awakened now and will collectively struggle for their cause cooperatively with understanding and more enthusiastically in the interest of the tribal now and then`, remarked Lamcha Chongloi.

He continued that a sit-in-protest against the alleged anti-tribal bills will be held tomorrow at Kangpokpi town to protest against the passing of the three bills in the state assembly as well as to draw the attention of the Centre Government to immediately intervene and examine cautiously the contents of the bills and return the same to obtain the consent and approval of the Hill Area Committee (HAC) and ensure to protect, safeguard and maintain status quo.

Meanwhile, extending their deepest condolence over the dead of the tribal youths in Churachandpur who died in the alleged anti-tribal bullets CSOs Sadar Hills question the State Chief Minister and Home Minister in particular as to why live bullet were used to the agitators in hills and rubber bullet in valley?

The CSOs of Sadar Hills will invest every possible helps and endorse any form of march to fight for the tribal interest Lamcha Chongloi added.
