IMPHAL, December 21: The Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the alleged killing of Md Hashmad Ali alias Babu, headmaster of Keirao Lower Primary Madrasa on November 2 at Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East held a press meet at the Manipur Press Club today.

The JAC along with the family appealed to the accused party to admit and apologies to bring about an amicable solution by December 26.

“We have no intent for revenge hence we invite the erring party for a peace talk before December 26. Failing which the issue might ripple beyond control”, said spokesperson of the JAC Haji Arafat Ali.

He alleged that Abdul Helim and Md Barik, both brothers of the main accused Md Amu along with two unknown persons brandishing guns had ventured into the restricted area with a camera and threatened the children in the vicinity and shot a dog last Friday afternoon on December 18.

‘The elders were in their prayer session and consider such conduct as disrespectful and a challenge to the JAC as well as the local public’, he said while denouncing the act.

“We demand to know the identity of these people and wonder why these accused are not arrested till date. If such intrusion is repeated, the family will be held responsible. Further the inaction on the part of the Imphal East police is disheartening and this is mounting the tension among the public. We appeal for justice and will resort to further agitations if such apathy continues” he added.
