IMPHAL, December 20: The Kuki Chiefs’ Association (KCA) Chandel, Kuki Peoples’ Forum (KPF) Chandel, Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Chandel and Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) Chandel strongly condemn the communal intention of Chandel District Deputy Commissioner, Robert Singh Khstrimayum on the day of Advent Christmas on December 12 at DC Office complex Chandel, which was organised by district Administration.

In a joint statement issued by the organisations, it said that the district administration invited all the stakeholders of the district but only a particular community was given time for speech.

The CNPO and NPF were given special chance to deliver speeches while the rest of other communities remained silent spectators, it said adding that none of the other communities were given chance to have a speech.

It was shocking that even a request for an encouragement speech made by Ngamkhosei Sontah, General Secretary of KCA – Chandel was turned down, it continued.

It was really unfortunate for the district that the advent Christmas became a communal event since the programme was prescheduled by the communal officer, Robert Singh Khstrimayum, Deputy Commissioner Chandel, it claimed.

It was really heart shocking for KCA-Chandel, KPF-Chandel, KSO-Chandel and TSA-Chandel, it held adding that this was not the first time the organisations condemn the DC’s bias treatment among communities of the district.

“We don’t think that it will bring any development, peace and harmony for the district.

We would like to remind the communal officer, Mr Robert Singh Khstrimayum that Chandel District is house for different tribes under two apex communities so called Kuki and Naga, therefore the Chandel district needs well trained officer who has quality to maintain justice (equal share, equal treatment)”, it maintained.

It appealed the state Government to take up immediate action against this communal office before warning that the organisation will not remain as a silent spectators and added that Robert Singh Khstrimayum and the state government should be the sole responsible for any consequences.
