Arrested BJP workers admitted to hospital

IMPHAL, January 19: Arrested BJP candidate of Ningthoukhong Ward No 1 in the recent January 11 local body election Angom Tombi Devi’s son A Dipak Singh, 29 and daughter A Sonia Devi, 21, have been admitted in separate hospitals for treatment.

The two including their mother and another sister were arrested by the Bishnupur Police in connection with an altercation with supporters and workers of a Congress candidate in the aftermath of declaration of election results.

Sonia is presently admitted at the JNIMS and occupying Female Ward Bed No 15 on the third floor JNIMS, while Dipak has been admitted today at the Bishnupur District Hospital Bed No 13 under Patient No 1196/06 with Sl No 10197 dated January 19.

Dipak was arrested by the Bishnupur Police soon after Commerce and Industry minister Govindas Konthoujam had allegedly slapped him inside the campus of the police station on January 17. He along with his mother and two sisters were produced before the CJM/ BPR yesterday and remanded to police custody till January 25.

This morning, he complained of vomiting tendencies accompanied by lack of appetite and weakening, giddiness and was taken to the Bishnupur District Hospital; however, after the doctors said there was nothing he was put back in police custody, informed sources.

Later in the afternoon, after his symptoms continued and intensified he was again admitted to the hospital, informed the sources.

It is also learnt that Tombi’s other daughter Aruna Devi is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
