Banks functioning interrupted

IMPHAL, Jan 12: All branches of State Bank of India and United Bank of India were non operational for more than three hours today owing to a line malfunction on the Dimapur stretch today.

According to a branch manager of the one of the SBI branches, the inconvenience created much commotion as services to customers were halted completely for three hours.

Both the Leased and V-Sat lines were down today, he said.

Such inconvenience has been frequent and slowing down our performance, he added.

According to an official of the BSNL, the optical fibre between Mao and Maram broke down today with another major breakdown between Dimapur and Guwahati.

“We heard that the second line was partially restored today. Eastern Telecom Region has three Controlling officers at Kolkata, Dimapur and Guwahati. Once new pipes are procured from Power Grid Corporation, the frequency of mal function will be improved, he said.
