IMPHAL, January 23: There is no place left in the State where the government has not imposed the CrPC 144, and yet there has been no report of arrest of any individual defying the restrictions till date, BJP MLA Th Bishwajit said questioning Thangmeiband MLA Joykishan`™s arrest today.

Speaking to media persons during a press meet today at the Manipur Press Club, the MLA said he do not take the arrest of the MLA lightly.

Joykishan`™s arrest is the first instance in the State when someone has been arrested for defying the CrPC, he claimed.

He further questioned why the police arrested only Joykishan and not the other protestors.

This smells of a hidden agenda against the MLA, he added.

He continued he is ready to take Joykishan`™s place to agitate for the people of Manipur.

The government is playing political games with the issue, he added.

He said if the government really wants to construct the temporary market shed, the space available on the western part of Johnstone School, Old Secretariat Road or above the Naga River can be used for the construction.

He demanded a clear cut clarification from the government on the issue.

He said the agitation is not only for the people of Thangmeiband but for the entire State.

He added that the government is yet to invite MLA Joykishan for talks and said if the government don`™t want any controversy, then the CM or the government spokesperson could have invited the MLA for a talk.
