IMPHAL, January 12: BJP Nungba Mandal, Tamenglong District has pointed out that the worst affected villages are in the epicentre area which lies between Nagaching Hill and Kabui Khullen village.
In a statement, the BJP Nungba Mandal said the tremor left thousands of people in shock besides rendering thousands homeless particularly in Longmai area in Tamenglong district.
Stating that relief and the humanitarian services have been confined only in and around the epicentre and its nearby villages, it appealed to the higher authority, NGOs, organisations and concerned government agencies to extend relief and humanitarian efforts to the interior area of Tamenglong including Luangrang (Nungnang) ADC segment area and other remote areas.
Many people got injured, some serious victims were taken to Imphal for treatment and many are yet to recover from the shock wave that traumatized them. They really need medical help including shock therapy to neutralize the fear psychosis caused by the earthquake, it said.
It extended gratitude to MLA Thongam Bishwajit who first visited the quake-hit area along with RK Shivachandra, spokesperson BJP Manipur Pradesh, personally visiting the victim families, sharing the grief and suffering of the people at Longmai (Noney) village.
He was not only the first MLA to tour the disaster-stricken area to take stock of the ravage caused by the earth quake but also extended generous financial contribution towards the affected families and to the injured victims besides distributing relief materials on humanitarian ground for immediate relief, the statement said.
All these relief works and helps have been done out of his heart and love for the people as human being though he hails from other Constituency and being an opposition MLA. Their visit encouraged the local MLA and others for extending relief works operation and help towards the suffering people of the quake affected villages, it continued.
The BJP Nungba Mandal also extended happiness and thankful to all the individuals, organizations, churches, concerned government departments and Tamenglong District Administrator’s representative, Joseph Paulin Kamei, ADM & CEO TADC of Tamenglong for timely intervention on rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
It also thanked M Asnikumar Singh, General Secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh (Admn & Co-ordination) and his team for reaching the epicentre area of the quake at Kabui Khullen village for spot assessment.
