Help extended to earthquake victims

IMPHAL, January 16: Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee in association with National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) had extended help to earthquake victims currently residing in relief camps located in Motbung and Kangpokpi areas yesterday.

The visiting team was accompanied by the General Secretary of Indian Youth Congress northeast in-charge Indrani Mishra who visited various relief camps extending their help and support to earthquake victims.

Members of the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee extended their help to people staying at the relief camps set up at Bishnulal Govt. High School located at Charhajar of Sadar Hills.

Speaking on the occasion, Indrani had said that the visit to the place is to provide all forms of help and support to survivors of the devastating earthquake which jolted the region on January 4.

She further said that her visit was coordinated and supervised by the Chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress, Rahul Gandhi.

President of Manipur Youth Congress Committee, Amir Huissen also led a team which visited Chalbung where relief camps were put up for 38 families whose houses were damaged by the earthquake.

The team also extended help to 150 people from 137 households at Bethel Colony.

Later the team also visited the earthquake affected areas of Kangpokpi including a relief camp in Nepali Motbung.
