Kiren Rijiju visits Imphal to assess situation

IMPHAL, January 4: Union Minister of State, Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju visited Imphal to assess the situation in Earthquake hit Manipur today.

The Minister landed at the Tulihal Airport this evening around 3:30 in a chopper. From there he headed directly to the BJP Manipur Office where he met with the state BJP leaders including Th Chaoba, Adim Pamei, I Mangiton, AR Khan, O Malesh, Anwar Hussen, K Rodindro.

Briefing media persons at the airport, Kiren Rijiju said he was sent by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Imphal immediately to assess the damage inflicted by the quake.

He said that he got the official briefing of the calamities from the Chief Minister of Manipur.

The Minister further assured that once the assessment of damaged is done he will come back to Imphal to take necessary measures ranging from relief and other relevant works.

The NDRF team, central and state forces have been pressed into action for rescue operation, said the Union Minister.

Later Rijiju met the Chief Minister and Governor of Manipur before leaving Imphal.
