IMPHAL, January 18: Pukhrambam Lokeshwor of Tera Yambem Leikai has clarified his reported conduct against a poster of Hijam Irabot during a press meet at the Manipur Press Club today.

Some local dailies had earlier reported that Lokeshwor had uprooted the flex which was put up at the spot meant for Hijam Irabot Complex by the collective of Civil Society Organisations and Irabot Trust.

He explained that, “I have no intention of disrespect either for Hijam Irabot or CSOs and it was done in a state of anger”

He said, the site for the complex lies between his land and the main road and that once the complex is constructed it will completely obstruct his family’s access to the road hence he had submitted a request letter to the local Youth Development Organisation(YDO) Club, Lukhram Leikai on December 26, 2015.

“However this request was overlooked which irked our family” he said.

He said, ‘While this dispute was still ongoing, the YDO had loaded a huge pillar at the site blocking the entrance. I had reacted to that and in anger uprooted the flex/platoon.”

Oinam Basanta of Tera khuraijam Leikai alleged that while he was capturing the commotion in his camera, members of the YDO had attacked him with bricks and wooden rod. “I had two stitch on my head and bruises on my shoulder. It is unfortunate that they charge me for instigating the violence for which I was not involved at all” he said.
