Many extend Gaan Ngai wish, appeal not to call strikes

IMPHAL, January 19: The Gaan Ngai festival which is the biggest festival of the Zeliangrong community following the Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak(TRC) religion will be celebrated with all its religious and ritualistic fervour starting from January 22 and will continue till January 28.

The celebration committee of the festival in a statement signed by its president, Poudongai Kamson has appealed to all concerned civil organizations against imposing bandhs/ Blockades or strikes.

It said that the State-level Gaan-Ngai Celebration Committee is organizing the festival at Maibam Kabui Khun near Nambol Bazar in Bishnupur District and this committee has been organizing the festival at the state level since 2003 and all and anyone is requested to kindly attend this festival and make it a grand success.

The Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak (TRC) Chabon Phom (AMN), (An indigenous Religious Youth Organisation) and Zeliangrong Cultural Council, (ZCC) have also extended their warmth and heartiest greetings to one and all especially the TRC of Zeliangrong community in connection with upcoming Gaan-Ngai festival.

The TRC Chabon Phom, general secretary Khangsinlung Dangmei, in a statement wished that the almighty Tingkao Ragwang bestow his bountiful blessing upon us and bring all the good things in all round development to the people of Manipur.

The Ethno Heritage Council Zeliangrong Cultural Council (ZCC) has also extended greetings to the entire community settling in Manipur on the occasion of Gaan-Ngai and Imoinu festivals, indigenous festivals of Manipur.

In a statement it said that the coming festivals strengthen the bond of brotherhood shared between various ethnic community settling in the state besides ushering peace and prosperity.
