IMPHAL, January 21: With the Centre-NSCN (IM) talks proceeding further, it is necessary for the people of the State to demand from the NDA government in the centre an assurance that Manipur’s territorial integrity will not be disturbed or altered due to the talks, said MLA RK Anand today.

He charged the Centre of acting without any consideration or by totally ignoring the aspirations of the people of Manipur.

The BJP led NDA government should assure that Manipur’s territorial integrity will not be harmed in any case so as to maintain the peace and harmony in the State, he said.

There is every chance that the people will be more ferocious this time if anything like the June 18 2001 incident were to be repeated again, he added.

The MLA further appealed to the people to come out and support a rally which proposed to be held in February to be organised civil organisations of the State in connection with safeguarding the territorial and emotional integrity of the State.

He said if the rally for the territorial integrity of the State fails to attract much crowd, the opposition or the Centre may conceive it to be a sign of disunity among the people of the State.

He further called on the JCILPS and other organisations who have contributed much during the ILPS movement should come forward and help in building up unity in the State.

He said the public and the State government should be united in facing any threat to the territorial or emotional integrity of Manipur.

Demands for separate homeland will only affect the brotherly bond among the different communities residing together in the State, the MLA observed.

Meanwhile, regarding the issue over the damage of the Ima Market structures in the State, the MLA said this issue should not be politicise at all.

It is not the loss of just one person or the government or for that matter any single political party but of the whole State, he said.

We need to discuss the issue together with the people and think what ought to be done instead of politicising the issue and criticising one another, he said.
