IMPHAL, December 31: Union Minister of Railway, Suresh Prabhu gave his commitment that a new broad gauge Railway from Khongsang to Dimapur would be constructed as a New Year gift to people of Manipur especially the Tamenglong district, said Asnikumar general secretary Administration BJP Manipur.
Speaking to media persons, Asnikumar, revealed that on December 28 last a delegate of BJP Manipur Pradesh including himself and Adim Pamei, BJP state election committee members met the Union Minister of Railway.
During the meeting the delegates submitted a proposal for approval of a new Railway project broad gauge line from Khongsang to Dimapur via Khongsang-Tamenglong-Tamei-Tenning-Peren-Dimapur in the memory of late Ranima Gaidinliu, he said.
In response to that the Minister has forwarded a written a directive to North-Eastern Railway Frontier to explore on the feasibility of the project, further said Asnimukar.
Meanwhile, reacting to the statement of Gaikhangam who recently termed BJP as a drifting log, strongly condemn the statement before branding him an irresponsible leader of Congress party.
Taking a jibe at the Congress, he said during the last 57 years the Congress ruled India only by lip service and similarly during the last one decade from 2002 to 2012 Congress party has gifted Manipur nothing but dark days.
BJP State election committee member Adim Pamei said that people of Tamenglong have been deprived of their basic rights for over 30 years by its elected representatives. During this tenure Tamenglong was declared as most under develop or backward district in India by the then UPA government, he said.
But recently BJP led NDA government has taken a commitment to make Tamenglong district to transform it as the most developed district within six years in the India, continued Adim, he added.
Meanwhile, the BJP Manipur led by its president, Th Chaoba, extended its greeting to people of Manipur on the eve of New Year 2016.
The BJP team hoped that the New Year ushers an era of prosperity, peace and development in the state and free of corruption.
The BJP further said that coming foster a sense of understanding between all section of the society in the state and unity in the state.
