IMPHAL, Feb 15: A one day legal awareness program organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West was held today at the premises of the THYC, Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai.
The program was organised in association with the Thangmeiband Youth Centre, THYC and sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
Speaking as the chief guest,Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West Aribam Noutuneshwari Devi stressed on the need for parents to give proper counselling to their young wards who are about to get married.
Such private counselling with the parents will help in reducing domestic violence rate in the State, she observed.
She further said today parents are more focused on their children’s education and their getting good marks in school while totally neglecting the social values.
This has only led to an increase in the number of divorce cases in the State, she lamented.
During the program, Ajitkumar Mutum delivered a speech on the topic ‘Cyber Crime’ and Keisham Dhane on the topic ‘Central Sponsore Scheme’.
The program was also attended by Thokchom Saimond Singh, Special Judge ND&PS; Longjam Tiken Singh, president THYC and other two resource persons namely Ajitkumar Mutum and Keisham Dhane Singh.
Around 70 individuals attended the program.
