MLA Prithviraj further cross-examined in ‘false’ educational qualification case

IMPHAL, February 16: MLA of 27-Moirang Assembly Constituency Mairembam Prithviraj Singh who is also the Parliamentary Secretary (Youth Affairs & Sports, Tourism) was further cross-examined in the High Court of Manipur today.

Prithviraj who was elected from the constituency from INC ticket is charged of falsely filing his educational qualification in his election affidavit.

The Parliamentary Secretary who is one of the respondents of the Election Petition Case No 1 of 2012 was cross-examined by counsel of the petitioner in the court for the second time.

In connection with the case hearing, Prithviraj made physical appearance and gave statement before the court on February 8 last. The cross examination is being done based on his statement.

As his deposition could not be completed wholly on the day, further deposition before the court was conducted today.

During the cross examination, Prithviraj stated that he has no knowledge of the ‘’Who’s Who’’ list for Members of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly published by Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The Parliamentary Secretary further stated that he has not given comment on the matter.

However, he admitted before the court that he had signed the election affidavit without seeing it properly.

One witness from the side of the respondents will give statement before the court in connection with the ongoing case hearing.

It may be mentioned that the case was filed by P Saratchandra Singh who had faced Prithviraj in the election.

The petitioner was represented by Senior Advocate N Kumarjit assisted by Junior Advocate P Tamphamani Singh while H Ishwarlal represented the respondents of the case.
