One more witness cross-examined in Parl Secy Prithviraj ‘false’ affidavit case

IMPHAL, February 19: In continuation of the case hearing in the ‘false’ submission of educational qualification by MLA Mairembam Prithviraj Singh who is also the Parliamentary Secretary (Youth Affairs & Sports, Tourism) in the election affidavit, one more witness was cross-examined in the High Court of Manipur today.

The witness who was produced from the Parliamentary Secretary’s side is identified as Advocate Ch Bimolchandra Singh. He was already cross-examined in the court and had taken part in the election scrutiny of the MLA before the concerned Returning Officer (RO).

In his cross-examination, the Advocate stated that as per the MLA’s election agent, the submission of the MLA’s election qualification in the election affidavit, claiming as a MBA degree holder was done.

Mention may be made that the election agent namely Philem Shamu as a witness of the case was cross-examined in the court on February 27 wherein he stated that he later came to know that the MLA has not passed MBA course as claimed so in the election affidavit.

With the cross examination of Advocate Bimolchandra, deposition of witness from the side of the respondent Parliamentary Secretary Prithviraj has been completed.

Proceeding of the final argument of the case admitted under Election Petition Case No 1 of 2012 will be started from February 22.

The cross-examination was conducted by Senior Advocate Naorem Kumarjit Singh, counsel of the petitioner Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh. He was assisted by Junior Advocate P Tamphamani Singh.
