IMPHAL, February 15: A woman today demanded strict against a man arrested for attempting to rape her daughter in law on February 12.
Speaking at a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today, the woman said their neighbour Saikhom Sunil tried to force himself on her daughter in law on February 12 while her daughter in law was waiting for her husband who had gone to get some eggs from a shop.
Kamala continued taking advantage of the absence of the husband, Sunil used a knife to threaten her daughter in law and attempted to rape her, but fortunately, the husband arrived following which Sunil fled from the scene but threatening to kill them if they inform the people about the incident.
The same day a complaint was filed at the Kakwa Police and the accused was arrested around 1am the same night, she said.
Kamala continued the culprit should be punished according to the law as he had attacked the modesty of a woman.
Meanwhile, the police sources said that the accused has been sent to jail under IPC section 354 (attempt to rape and molestation) and 307 (life threat on a victim) on February 13.
The same source also informed that Sunil is also believed to have taken advantage of other women in the past and was arrested only this time.
