IMPHAL, March 13: In a shocking incident, a 5 year old boy was killed while his sister sustained serious injury when they were attacked by a 19 year old boy using machete today at Urup Arapti Imphal East district.
In the meantime, enraged over the incident a mob lynched the assailant later in the evening.
According to sources the incident occurred this afternoon around 2pm under the jurisdiction of the Irilbung police station.
The deceased victim has been identified as Iliyas, 5 while the injured has been identified as Tajbhanu, 8, siblings of Liyaqat of Urup Arapti.
Tajbhanu sustained seriously head injury in the attack and was immediately evacuated to RIMS. Later, she was referred to Shija Hospital with her condition reportedly deteriorated.
The accused has been identified as one Abomcha, 19, son of Alazuddin of the same locality.
Sources informed that the accused attack the minors with the intention to prevent them from revealing the stealing of mobile phone of the victim’s mother.
A case has been registered by the police in connection with the incident.
