AMWJU to launch distinctive ‘PRESS’ sticker

IMPHAL, March 4: The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) president Wangkemcha Shamjai today announced the distinctive ‘PRESS’ sticker for vehicles will be introduced by the State Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on March 6 at the Manipur Press Club.

The AMWJU president said there have been many instances of many non-media persons sticking press stickers on their vehicles without any authorisation causing many problems.

He added the stickers which will be introduced on March 6 will bear a customised hologram, AMWJU logo and unique code for each sticker.

Meanwhile, clarifying on the issue of DIPR media card quota for each media houses, AMWJU president said media houses with upto a circulation of 5000 copies considered category C will have seven card quotas, media houses with upto 10000 circulation considered category B will have a quota of 15 cards and A category media house with more than 15000 circulation will have 20 quotas.

He appealed to the concerned media houses to submit their actual circulation figures, and added that the union will initiate steps to verify the circulation figures to clear confusions.

Shamjai also lauded the State for okaying the Press Housing Colony at Lamphelpat under the Journalists Welfare Programme.
