IMPHAL, March 21: The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) is organizing the 6th Journalists Sports Meet from March 22 to 26 at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium and Manipur Press Club.
Speaking to media person at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, President of AMWJU, Wangkhemcha Shamjai announced that on March 22 a torch rally will held from Kangla to Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul at 7.30 am and will be flag-off by the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh.
He continued in the flag off ceremony Minister of Education, CAF&PD, Moirangthem Okendro Singh; Chief Secretary, Oinam Nabakishore; Director of JNIMS, Dr L Deben attend at the ceremony and which will follow a function after arriving at Manipur Press Club.
He said that in sports meet events such as athletics, badminton, table tennis, chess, football, volleyball and cricket, and added that a technical committee and screening committee have been formed to conduct the sports meet smoothly.
The Journalist Sport Meet is came on conducting since 2011 to strengthen the unity among the fraternity, he said and added that the participants need to play the matches as friendly leaving behind to win or lose a match.
Wangkhemcha Samjai appealed the all members in media houses to attend in the rally.
