UNC alleges State government of promoting ethnic divisions

KANGPOKPI, March 11: The United Naga Council (UNC) publicity wing in a strong statement has alleged that the present Ibobi led Congress government is promoting ethnic divisions through its communal agendas and political policies.

A day after speculations of approving the creation of Jiribam and Sadar Hills Districts, the apex Naga body has slammed the Government over recent incidents of ethnic killings and tensions at Satu Aimol village, Chandel and Hairok incident.

The divisive policies and political agendas of the Government is directly promoting communal disharmony among different communities of the State.

The UNC as a responsible people’s institution will not remain silent over such attempts made by State Government but react befittingly without compromising land, identity, rights and Tribal’s welfare.

It is now an open truth that, the Manipur Government with its communal policies is attempting to in cite ethnic hostilities among different communities through unwanted decisions and dangerous attempts to test people’s patience.

The UNC however warned that, the Nagas and Tribals of Manipur are committed to protect their own land, resources, identity, inalienable rights, traditions and its people.

Any untoward consequences erupting through the decision of the State Government over any common issue will be sole responsible of the present Government, it added.
