IMPHAL, March 18: A team of district police commando, Imphal West conducted frisking and checking near Yurembam Kabui Khul gate and arrested one active member of ZUF on February 16.

A statement issued by PRO police department RK Tutusana said that the apprehendee was identified as one Benjamin Kamei alias Benny (40), son of Ngamsin Kamei of Noney Part-IV but presently stayed at Yurembam Kabui Khul, Imphal West.

Investigation revealed that he had extorted money from the general public, contractors and transporters in Imphal, Noney and Bishnupur areas. Further he had transported arms, ammunitions and explosives in different parts of Tamenglong, Bishnupur and Imphal areas.

Meanwhile, a team of district police commando, Imphal West including women police conducted cordon and search operation in some suspected houses, during the operation, one active cadre of KCP (Mangal) identified as one Konjengbam (o) Nirmala Devi (49), wife of Konjengbam Bhumeshwor Meitei of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikia was arrested.

Investigation revealed that she had served demand letters to government office and PHSC in Nambol area and collected a huge amount of money from various shops and private hospitals in the name of organisation. Incriminating articles were seized from her possession.

A case has been registered at Nambol Police Station and investigation is going on.
