IMPHAL, April 18: The Federation of Skill Development Corporation will take the risk for marketing of the State’s handicraft and agricultural products said FSDC chairman Anil Holsamudrakar during a one day national workshop on “Skilling India to Build India” conducted at Singjamei Heorangoithong community hall.

Anil said that the handicraft artisan and farmers are facing several problems in marketing their products at present.

Encouraging the artisan and farmers of Manipur to go ahead with their skill and agricultural trade, he said they should never give up at any cost.

The Centre considers Manipur to be the gateway to light, however, the State has continued to remain in the dark, he observed.

The FSDC will provide all help and assistance to encourage skill development in various fields in the State to boost the State economy, he added.

People of Manipur have inborn qualities in handicrafts and handloom and they are experimental, he observed lauding the artisans of the State.

He said people from outside the State admire every product of the State’s artisans.

He said the FSDC targets to export agricultural and handicraft products of the State outside the country especially to Southeast Asian countries in the near future.

However, all this is possible only when all stakeholders including the State government, FSDC and the people work hand in hand to promote the skilled artisan and the farmers, he observed.

BJP Mahila Morcha national vice president A Sarda Devi said such workshop will help the State.

“The present is the fruit of the past and seed of the future” Sarda said.

There was a time when the people of Manipur felt the Centre was treating them in a step-motherly manner, however, this has changed since Narendra Modi led government came into power in the Centre, she added.

Now, the Centre is treating the NE with utmost importance, she said.

Under his government, various schemes and projects have been taken up in the region, she added.

Manipur can be much ahead of other States, if all these schemes and projects are implemented as they are intended to be, she asserted.

Many of the schemes will help in fighting the unemployment issue through skill development, she added.

NE Skill Development and Entrepreneur regional coordinator Dr Meinam Binota delivered the key-note address that “Skilling India to build India” is a flagship programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She said that the primary objective of the workshop is to empower the young minds and particularly the educated women unemployed.

Dr Binota further said active participation of all citizens is required to develop the grass root level, skill-gap analysis through research, action plan for future development and improvement and a change in term of education and employment patterns.

The function was also attended by BJP MLA Thongju Th Bishwajit and Singjamei BJP Mandal president H Joykumar.
