IMPHAL, April 7: The mortal remains of late Gapumkhai Grinder Muivah, 57, son of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah’s elder brother Shangreihan Muivah, who passed away on April 6 around 12:45 at Max Hospital in New Delhi due to a heart attack, was brought home this afternoon.
A condolence service was also conducted at his residence in Fairyland Imphal. He is survived by his wife Sonia Muivah, three sons and daughter.
Grinder Muivah had actively contributed and work for the greater cause of Nagas for the last many decades.
His wife Sonia Muivah speaking during the service said “I couldn’t have asked for a better husband and father for my children.
Shangreihan Muivah told the congregation that he was not saddened by the untimely demise of his beloved son saying God has his ways and perhaps his time has come.
Delivering the eulogy of the departed soul, Ram Muivah, secretary NEC said he was a kind and big-hearted man, who is always caries a helping and caring attitude towards the needy.
“During my 15 years association with him I have never seen him raising his voice and he speak with conviction,” Ram said.
Grinder Muivah was one of the most successful entrepreneurs among the Nagas and the companies set up by him include Khaibak Mining Corporation Private Limited, Khaibak Designers Private Limited, Khaibak Energy Private Limited, Khaibak Infratech Private Limited, Sunny Brooke Hotels and Resorts Private Limited, Nishum Hotel Pvt Ltd and Khaibak International Private Limited.
Nagaland CM TR Zeliang, Nagaland MP Neiphiu Rio, newly-elected Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye, expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Dy speaker Preshow Shimray, NPF legislators Daikho, S T Nunglun Victor, MLA Victor Keishing, commissioner Jackson Shimray and a host of dignitaries, well-wishers, friends, villagers and civil bodies attended the condolence service.
Meanwhile, in a condolence message, the NSCN-IM has expressed ‘deep pain’ on the sudden and untimely demise of late Grinder Muivah.
The message said he was born in Somdal village of Ukhrul district, Manipur to a family whose contribution to the cause of Naga nation is undeniably immense.
In 1995, the Government of India proposed his name to be a “Go between” for the Indo-Naga political dialogue to which the NSCN agreed upon, it said.
Since then he has been passionately engaged in between the two parties in order to arrive to a logical conclusion to the Indo-Naga political imbroglio. It is hard to accept the fact that he is no more with us at this crucial juncture when his presence is ever more needed. With his demise a vacuum to the political process is being created which will be difficult to fill, it said.
NSCN-IM “with immense love and gratitude” said it saluted the departed soul for the great contribution rendered to the Naga nation.
“He will always be fondly remembered. We pray that the departed soul will rest in eternal peace and that the Almighty God will provide abundant love, kindness and give comfort to the grieving family at this time of sorrow,” the NSCN-IM said in its condolence message.
