JCILPS to renew movement seeking ILP in State

IMPHAL, April 18: Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System today conducted an Imphal West District Leaders meet today at the Langjing Achouba Community Hall.

According to a statement of the JCILPS, the meeting took several resolutions including demands for the government and all political parties to convert the three bills passed by the State Assembly last year into Acts.

It also resolved that the government should constitute the Manipur Population Commission which was signed between the JCILPS and the government on August 25, 2015, at the earliest, it said.

It continued that the meeting also resolved that the government should at the earliest act on its assurance signed with the AMSU and AMSCOC in 1980, with AMSU in 1994 and with the JCILPS in 2015 to count the population of outsiders and to constitute the Manipur Land Reform Commission at the earliest.

During the meeting it was also resolved that the local clubs, meira paibis and civil organisations of the district will ensure success of non-cooperation movement like not selling of land to non-locals and not renting out rooms to non-locals, it said.

It further said that under the guidance of the JCILPS, several activities including street corner meetings, poster campaigns, save indigenous people campaigns, non-cooperation movement against outsiders, migrant workers drive, district level leaders’ meet, public meeting, pressure to political parties, market blockade, relay hunger strikes, meira rallies, general strikes, mass rally will be taken up.

Meanwhile, the JCILPS has also said that it will start a campaign seeking help from the people to construct a memorial complex at Awa Ching of ‘Lamjing Meira’ Robinhood who was killed during a rally demanding implementation of ILP in the State.

The statement said any statement in this regard will be issued under the signature of Finance Affairs Committee, JCILS convenor BK Moirangcha, it said.
