IMPHAL, April 14: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) constituted against the killing at Mayang Imphal organized a general public meeting at Lilong Kaleikhong Makha Public Ground, Thoubal district on April 13 to express strong resentment against the silence of the government on the incident.
The massive meeting attended by around 2000 people unanimously passed certain resolutions in connection with the incident.
It resolved to strongly urge the concerned authorities to hand over the killing case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or National Investigation Agency (NIA) and reveal the veracity of the incident within a stipulated time.
The meeting also resolved to launch democratic forms of agitation in protest against the failure of the government to give positive response to the JAC regarding the incident so far.
Along with agreeing to not hold talk with the government till the culprits involved in the killing are produced, the gathering further resolved to impose State-wide general strike from 4 am of April 15 in case the government fails to positive response on the incident before April 14.
The meeting then decided to send a report to the Central government on the indifferent attitude shown by the Congress government in the State towards Manipuri Muslims.
