IMPHAL, April 24: The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has strongly condemned the assault and carjacking incident on April 19 at Keithelmanbi, Senapati district.

In a statement, the union said it is deeply disturbed by frequent incidents of kidnapping and hijacking of commuters along the NH-2, most recent being the assault of three women flower vendors and driver of the pickup truck while they were travelling on April 19 at Keithelmanbi.

Such incident will only create tension and cause fear among the people. It should be condemned by every person, the union said.

NWU appealed to the concerned authority to take up necessary measures so that such incidents do not recur.
