IMPHAL, April 27: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister Moirangthem Okendro has assured equal sharing of schemes under his department in both hills and valley districts.
The minister was speaking during his reception function organised by the Manipur State Panchayat Parishad at the auditorium of the Manipur Film Development Corporation.
Okendro said with equal sharing of the schemes in both the hills and the valley, development will be able to reach the far flung areas of the State both in the hills and the valley.
He also assured cooperation and help to the elected panchayat members and adhyaksha’s for the smooth functioning of the department and to ensure that all development schemes reaches the rural areas
Okendro said the Act East Policy or development of the State will not be possible without first developing the rural areas.
All India Panchayat Parishad, New Delhi national secretary, professor N Mohendro Singh asserted there is a need to give educate the elected panchayat members on the various developmental schemes provided by the government.
Meanwhile, a memorandum was also submitted to the minister.
The adhyakshas also expressed dissatisfaction with the failure of the former RD and PR minister Francis Ngajokpa to cooperate with them.
RD & PR principal secretary JC Ramthanga, attended the function as guest of honour and Manipur State Panchayat Parishad, Porompat president T Itobi Singh attended as president.
Imphal East Zilla Parishad adhyaksha P Bimola Devi, Thoubal Zilla Parishad adhyaksha Kh Surnalata, Bishnupur Zilla Parishad adhyaksha Th Ithoibi Devi and Imphal West Zilla Parishad adhyaksha Y Dashumati Devi attended the function as special guest.
