IMPHAL, April 16: Several local clubs of Wangjing area in Thoubal district have questioned the proposed plan to inaugurate the Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex on April 20 as the construction of the complex is not nearing its end.
Prior to the inauguration, a team of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS) headed by its Director Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja inspected condition of the sports complex today.
Knowing that the Director himself is going to inspect the complex, members of Wangjing local clubs gathered at the complex to meet the Director but the latter hurriedly went away after inspecting some parts of the complex leaving them in disappointment.
Speaking to newspersons, one of the local club members questioned the plan to inaugurate the sports complex since its construction is too far from its completion.
Stating that construction of a helipad at the complex is going on solely for reception of President of India Pranab Mukherjee who is slated to partake in the Khongjom Day observation on April 23, he wondered that what the President would feel if the sports complex construction is not completed within the set deadline.
Meanwhile, reliable reports said that no one other than DC Thoubal has no knowledge that Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex will be inaugurated on April 20.
Even the local MLA did not know about the inauguration. DSO Thoubal was also not informed by the DC about it despite the inspection visit by the YAS Director, the reports added.
