IMPHAL, May 23: The upcoming Imphal Municipal Corporation election will be a battle between a party which is working to safeguard the future generations and another party which has drained public resources for their own interest without worrying about the future consequences, Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan said.

Joykisan, who was speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of BJP candidate from Ward no 3 H Nutanchandra today, said a responsible police officer was kept in lock-up for checking a relative of the chief minister but the administration has so far failed to initiate actions with the intention of lifting the morale and encourage to the police force.

The reason for keeping the officer in the lock-up is still vague, he stated, adding that an agitation should be launched against the government for looking down on the police force, which is working tirelessly round the clock.

It is a pitiful situation for Congress’s IMC candidates that they have no other option but to speak in praise of their leaders who are in reality sucking the blood of the people. This is a very unfortunate scenario and the appropriate way to campaign for the Congress is to appeal to the public to give the party another chance to loot their resources, the BJP leader stated.

It is the right time to teach a lesson to the Congress party for not listening to the voice of the people and secure the safety of our children as the family members of leaders of the party are drug smugglers, he said.

Lambasting chief minister O Ibobi for lacking commitment on proper administration of Imphal city, Asnikumar said though he holds the portfolio of MAHUD, no significant changes has been taken up for improvement of drainage system, traffic congestion over a long period of time. It is time for the people who had undergone prolonged plight to exact revenge on the Congress government, he stated.
