IMPHAL, May 7: Amidst the 42-hour public curfew imposed by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) pressing its demand for implementation of ILPS in the State, a man was severely thrashed at Usoipokpi Sagomshang under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district.

The injured man has been identified as Khangembam Bobishang, 30 son of Kh Ibomcha of Samaram Mayai Leikai.

He was admitted to District Hospital Thoubal. After getting treatment, he was discharged from the hospital.

According to Bobishang, he along with his wife Ranjita and two children was returning home from Imphal on a Honda Activa scooter when two alleged Meitei Pangals who came on a Yamaha FZ motorbike chased and stopped them near Usoipokpi Sagomshang asking why the family members came out during the public curfew.

β€˜β€™All of a sudden, the two persons started beating me without any valid reasons,’’ he said.

Contending that the two miscreants ridiculed call of his wife and children to spare him, Bobishang narrated that the assailants fled the place hurriedly after nearby locals rushed in sensing the assault.

Expressing strong discontentment over the incident, he appealed to the concerned organizations to find out the assailants and ensure that such incident does not occur in future.
